History
C4WS Homeless Project exists to support those without a home to rebuild their lives.
So much has changed since C4WS first opened it’s doors in January 2005.
Back then, a group of 7 churches took it in turns to provide free shelter and food for thirteen of the coldest weeks of the year. As the years progressed our project grew to incorporate 13 churches from within the Borough of Camden who offered shelter to our guests for 5 months of the year. In addition to this emergency provision, our service began to offer welfare support.
This entails holistically working with each individual to support them around mental and physical health problems, addiction issues, immigration matters, welfare advice and housing advice.
19 years on from our small beginnings, we now run various projects in addition to our shelter – English classes, our weekly Friday drop in club, Jobs Club our hosting scheme Home From Home, our Sunday Club and our Women’s Group.
From 2020 - 2022 we were unable to run our shelter using our network of churches as the venue, and had to move our provision into one static location in Euston.
For the 2022/23 season, our 19th, we have returned to our original rotating Church model, thanks to the wonderful support from our network of Churches, their communities and incredible volunteers.
Our budget is modest, but our impact is huge. We support around 300 homeless people a year – which could never be achieved without the dedication and hard work of our small team, our donors, and of course our incredible and tireless volunteers.
C4WS Homeless Project has always responded to need – and the need is rising.
We are on the front line ready to support anyone that needs our help.
