The C4WS Winter Shelter is open each year between early November to early April. The shelter is emergency accommodation that offers guests a 28-day stay and a caseworker who will provide holistic welfare support. Guests are referred to the shelter by approved referral partners in the Borough of Camden via our referral pathway.
Whilst in the shelter, guests have access to support pertaining to employment, education, immigration and can attend weekly English classes. Guests will have access to this support after their stay in the shelter for as long as they may need.
Since 2006, the Winter Shelter has been hosted in rotation by supporting churches. Members of the church congregations volunteer their time to cook and provide companionship to guests. Every effort is made to make guests feel comfortable and at home. During the pandemic, the Winter Shelter was held in a static venue in Euston to limit the movement of guests and reduce the risk of contracting Covid-19. Of the 125 guests that entered the shelter, we are pleased to say that none tested positive during their stay.
For our 19th season, our shelter has returned to our network of churches that have supported C4WS throughout the pandemic and are the life of the service.
