Friday Club Information for Volunteers

Video Training

Please make sure to share this video with all your volunteers, so they can familiarise with the setup before their shift.

Front of House

The café team will be a group of 2-3 people and will mostly work in the café area, visible to the cooking team via a hatch.

Tasks will be allocated to these members on the morning, these will include but are not limited to:

 · Set up a drinks station – a member of staff will tell you how this is done if this is your first time at Friday Club.

· Prepare snacks for the tables – cut cakes, butter bread etc.

· Wrap cutlery in napkins.

· Help manage the shower Rota when the club is open.

· Ensuring the space is tidy once members enter, helping clear tables/load dishwasher.

· Everyone needs to have left by 1.30pm so the cleaner can complete his job.

Cooking Team

The cooking team will be a group of 4-5 people and will mostly work in the onsite kitchen, visible to Friday Club members via a hatch.

There are masks, gloves, aprons available for all the team to wear and there are plenty of cleaning materials and hand sanitizers. We ask everyone to follow the necessary guidelines to keep everyone safe and well.

Currently we ask the cooking team to make lunch for a total of 55 made up of 40 members, plus our team of 10 staff and volunteers – and of course yourselves! There should be a meat dish for around 40-45 servings and a vegetarian dish for 10-15 servings.

Teams choose their own menu. We advise keeping things manageable and making meals that can be cooked and served in bulk e.g. curries, stews, etc.  Please do not make things too spicy or exotic. Please see Menu Suggestions:
