HISTORY OF C4WS HOMELESS PROJECT

C4WS Homeless Project is a project of CARIS Camden and exists to support those without a home to rebuild their lives.

Opening it’s doors for the first time in January 2005 a group of 7 churches took it in turns to provide free shelter and food for thirteen of the coldest weeks of the year. As the years progressed we grew to 13 churches offering shelter for 5 months of the year and added onto our service by offering welfare support. This entailed holistically working with each individual to support them around mental and physical health problems, addiction issues, immigration matters, welfare advice and housing advice.

12 years on from our small beginnings we now run various projects in addition to our shelter – our mentoring and befriending scheme, English classes, our weekly Friday drop in club and most recently The C4WS Jobs Club.

Our budget is modest but our impact is huge – We support 300 homeless people a year – which could never be achieved without the dedication and hard work of our ever growing 600 strong volunteer force.

C4WS Homeless Project has always responded to need – and the need is rising.
We are on the front line ready to support anyone that needs our help.
